Dear Dr. Zabalza,

I am writing to let you know that you were recently nominated for the Spirit of ICED Award by REDU. The International Consortium for Educational Development (ICED) Council considered your nomination at its annual meeting earlier this week and endorsed your nomination. Congratulations on being awarded the Spirit of ICED!

The object of ICED is to advance education worldwide by promoting, sustaining, and increasing individual and collective knowledge and understanding of all aspects of educational development in higher education. ICED’s aims are to:

  • Serve as a hub, networker, curator, and disseminator for educational development practitioners, researchers, and resources.
  • Help new and existing Member Networks develop their capacity for educational development through the sharing of good theory, practice, problems, and solutions.
  • Increase the number of partner organisations of ICED and help educational developers in countries or regions where no network organisations exist.

Award recipients are individuals or groups who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in educational development and made contributions towards advancing ICED’s object and aims in relation to the following criteria:

  1. Perceived opportunities for expanding the boundaries of educational development and acted to bring visions to reality.
  2. Used evidence to bravely challenge and improve existing educational development practice.
  3. Actively disseminated educational development practice and/or theory across boundaries.
  4. Provided a role model to educational developers.

Once again, warm congratulations, and sincere thanks for your long-standing and significant contributions to educational development.

With best wishes,

Dr. Donna Ellis

ICED President
